MARRIAGE FORMALITIES for citizens of Britain and Northern Ireland:
First of all you must publish the Banns at your local Registry Office in England. After 3 weeks they will releases a Certificate of Non Impediment (valid 6 months). You must check that your passports are valid for more than 6 months after the date of marriage.
Than, at least 2 months before the wedding, you should send the following documents to the British Consulate in Venice ( Tel +39-041-5055990, e-mail britconvenice@tin.it):
Original of the Certificate of Non Impediment
Originals of full birth certificate which must include names of both parents for both Bride and Groom
Photocopy of passports
If you have been previously married and are divorced you must send the "Original Divorce Decree Absolute" (+ original marriage certificate prom previous marriage). For those who are widowed: “Original Death Certificate” (+ original marriage certificate prom previous marriage) . If you are a female you need to have had this for at least 300 days)
You have to send us the copies of your both passports and of the witnesses’ passports. (everybody must be over 18 years old)
The Consulate will issue the Nulla Osta within few days from receiving all your documents. Please tell them to send the Nulla Osta directly to our Office in Bardolino.

Two days before the wedding, you will need to sign a declaration (excluding Venice, Sirmione, Gardone), (if needs, accompanied by our interpreter), at the Town Hall where you’ll get married.
The marriage ceremony will take place at the agreed time under the supervision of our interpreter and our personal assistence.
After the ceremony you will receive an International Marriage Certificate, which is recognised in every EU-country.
